Boat Games

These are some outline ideas for boating related games.

• Tug-o-war between boats/teams of boats
• Twin boat race - two boats tied together with slip knot race against similar two boats ; penalty if rope comes untied
  (Variant: add additional boats to string at each check point)
• Ship to shore race (or against the clock) pulling (white boat) then transfer to canoes then to shore.
• Scavenger Hunt - floating bottles with numbers on ie 1- 5; teams collect bottles highest score or full set of numbers etc.
  A variation can be done using letters in place of numbers and teams have to make longest word or spell a given word etc.
• Blindfold canoeing - blind driver with ‘backseat’ [astride rear deck] navigator giving directions
  (Variant: navigator is on shore shouting instructions)
• Straight Race A to B
• Tag (relay) race Canoe A starts and passes token to B etc
• Obstacle course - race around markers
• Dodge ball with sponges
• Tag Dodge ball – when hit you also become it
• Water Polo
• Donning Buoyancy Aid relay race – put on aid then remove and pass to next person and so on until last man. (ideal for Beavers)
• Passenger Relay race - Paddler and passenger race to end point, paddler gets out passenger takes over returns to start to pick up next passenger and so on until all have reached end point.
