During May and June 2000 a number of the leaders and scouts underwent canoe training at Gosport Scout Kayak Training Centre for the BCU 2 Star level. Congratulations to Ian Mitchell, Donna Mitchell, Cathy Ellis, Harvey Woodhatch, Angela Seagar and Pete Machell for passing the test.
This should make things easier for our water activities, as we now have eight leaders with kayak qualification.
A special congratulations for scout Stuart Mitchell who missed the first couple of lessons of the course but still passed. Also passing were scouts Pete Ellis, Robert Mitchell and Venture Louise Ellis.
This year we intend to carry out our own teaching, and send the students off to the Gosport Scout Kayak Training Centre for assessment of the awards.
