During the summer we spend most of our time out on the water. We canoe and sail in Portsmouth Harbour, Langstone Harbour or Alverstoke Lake. We provide training in theory and practicise such that the scouts can be assessed for BCU and RYA sailing qualifications. To participate in the water activities all must demonstrate a 50 metre swim, in clothes, at the local pool.

This was the first time most of the youngsters had sailed without a leader in the boat. It took them a little time to get the hang of it but at the end of the session most could do the basics.
